Something smells like fish.
I can't write a huge post today because I am back hard at work. But has anyone noticed on mls.ca that the listings in Calgary have magically disappeared? I receive "private client" email lists and yesterday I received an update with 38 properties for sale.
Today, that list went to 6 properties with no explanation.
Could this just be an honest mistake?
Or is this CREB's response to dismal sales, decreasing prices and impending "soft crash?"
Something just doesn't feel right and hopefully the glitch in the system gets fixed.

Definitely. Something is up. I've been tracking some places and 4 out of the 5 houses I'm most interested in dropped off the map today. The remaining one was price reduced by $30K. My guesses as to what is going on, in decreasing order of likelihood:
1) Data or coding mistake by MLS that will be corrected soon. Never ascribe to malice what can be explained by incompetence.
2) Many listings are being price reduced and are removed temporarily before re-appearing at a lower list with a reset days-on-market? Can an insider confirm if this actually happens?
3) Evil CREB plot to temporarily restrict supply in order to boost prices during the fall bump? :P
4) By a weird coincidence, all 4 houses sold just yesterday, some after being on market for 6+ months.

I'd guess Linda Allen's site is not affected by the missing listings, just the main MLS one as I can still find the listings I'm tracking on her site. Her site says it was updated as of 6:21 pm, so I assume it is correct.
Just entered "Calgary" as my only search criteria on the main MLS map and it says only 1770 properties. Linda's number is almost certainly closer to reality.
Think about it. It's a "glitch" in the system to try to make buyers panic subconsciously, "buy now" or you might not get in. This is why the mls listings can be found on alternate sites but not the main one. Translation: The CREB is a bunch of greasy kids who are overextended financially. Its totally disgusting and to be expected in Calgary. What do you expect those dudes to do, work? Calgary_rip_off

Total active listing: 5950. If you serch for any type of houses, results bring: District A: 249 listings and 131, 352, 79 listings respectively for District B, C, D. Does any body has a rational answer?
Answer was my first guess above. All the listings are back now on the main MLS map. Too bad, I do like a good conspiracy tale...
Ed Jensen and Mario T. were probably sleeping together and bumped the computer which screwed the mls listings.

I posted this on the other blog, but realtors and CREB, CREA. Hang your heads in shame liars. Prices falling, realtors all going on holidays etc. Ed jensen saying activity picking up in Fall. He should be fired. Completely immoral and unethical. Lie for business. SHAME ON YOU!
